We choose red cedar for this format on character, not prestige: a soft aroma, grain that stays stable through Surabaya’s year-round humidity, and colour that deepens with use. Two bench tiers give two temperature zones — children and first-timers sit low (around 70°C), while regular bathers climb to the top tier (around 85°C).
We fit this format most often into Gubeng and Rungkut family homes, usually converting a former storeroom or spare bedroom. A digital control panel outside the cabin sets temperature and timer, so parents can start heating before dinner is even finished. All wiring is heat-resistant SiHF, on its own breaker, with ELCB fitted as standard rather than an add-on.
